MOTORSPORT AND SUPPORT IN KENYA FOR THE MALINDI RAID 4X4: SUPPORT FOR KARIBUNI ONLUS WITH SPONSORS MAGIGAS AND CONTECH

Malindi Raid 4x4 was staged on Saturday, January 14th as Gruppo Peroni Race's early 2023 event in support of the local Kenyan populations. The raid got off at 9:30 in the morning with 15 cars registered for a total of 30 participants - two per car - aboard 4x4 off-road vehicles ready to face the difficulties of the route designed by Sergio Peroni's team. The food delivered will allow 800 children to have food for 21 days: wonderful news that confirms that events of this type are made up of games and motorsport, but above all a lot of solidarity.

From the center of Malindi, the caravan left along the road that runs along the Sabaki, the river that runs alongside the city, to then go up a few kilometers for the first special stage. From there the riders competed in a small dirt circuit, with great amusement from everybody. The slalom saw the victory of the car number 7, formed by Lorenzo and Vittoria Cattelan, ahead of the car number 3 of Alfredo Tosca and Alessandro Sozzi and the number 10 of Pietro Giordo and Donatella Cossu.

A few kilometers separated the participants from the location of the second special, a regularity test called "Muraglia", due to the particular route: it is in fact a 2,240m road on a closed street between two very high walls that divide two private lands. Great fun as well as an element of comparison between the participants due to the difficulty of interpretation, where the competitors had to set an average speed and reach the finish line without ever stopping the car. The stage victory went to crew number 1 made up of Bilal Chaudhri, Alessandro Zissimatos and Sara Centofanti in 3 minutes and 30 seconds. With them on the podium two crews on the same time - just one second behind: car number 3 of Alfredo Tosca and car number 10 of Pietro Giordo.

The caravan then headed inland, parading a series of typical African villages able to tell the typical African territory, made of red earth in a landscape made up of huts, lots of children around, cows and goats crossing the road.

The last activity valid for the day's classification took place at the Stage Park, a characteristic playground where all the competitors competed in archery and bowling. The overall ranking of the Malindi Raid 4x4 decreed the final success of crew number 1 of Bilal Chaudhri, Alessandro Zissimatos and Sara Centofanti on Toyota FJ Cruiser. Cars number 3 and number 7 close the podium on equal points, respectively with the crews of Alfredo Tosca and Alessandro Sozzi on Toyota Prado, and the team formed by Lorenzo and Vittoria Cattelan, in turn on Toyota off-road vehicles.

Finally, all the participants went for a typical lunch at Langobaya, the place where Karibuni Onlus has a fazenda through which the volunteers manage to feed the children of the surrounding schools every day. All the participants in the raid had loaded a lot of food into the cars, including flour, oil, beans and everything they use to cook in the villages. The final stop was at the local school, where the participants were welcomed by the children and distributed the food, in the presence of a high local authority.
